2. Huge News For Vanish Magic Magazine
--------------------------------------------
Message by Paul Romhany - Editor Vanish Magic Magazine

This is huge news for Vanish Magic Magazine and the world of magic. Vanish - International Magic Magazine is now a printed magazine.
I have chosen to offer it to magicians who want a printed copy on-demand. I based the printed copy on MAC magazine - incredibly high quality and over 200 pages. It's my favourite magazine and yes it costs a lot more than other regular computer magazines but is well worth it.

How do you order? It's easy - simply click on the magazine you would like to print and choose hard copy - follow the instructions and you will get your copy sent. These are NOT mass produced and come from Holland so they are indeed collectors' items.

Here I am with the very first edition that is available for print.

Please note that I have not modelled this after any magic magazine before - it's all brand new and the actual current edition (25) is an interactive printed magazine - read it with your phone in hand to watch videos from the magazine!!

3. Nephew Will Continue Paul Daniels' 'Legacy'
--------------------------------------------
Article forwarded on by Peter Phillips (UK)

Debbie McGee hopes magician nephew will continue Paul Daniels' 'legacy' on Britain's Got Talent

Debbie McGee said she hopes that the "legacy" of her late husband Paul Daniels will be continued in their nephew, who has auditioned as a magician for this year's Britain's Got Talent series.

James Phelan, 23, will follow in the footsteps of Paul, who died in March from a brain tumour, as he shows off his sleight of hand in the talent competition - and he'll have a personal cheerleader in the form of Debbie.

She explained: "As his Uncle Paul got ill, James applied for Britain's Got Talent.
"He'd never been on the stage, he's very brave, and he didn't have any help from myself or Paul because Paul was too ill and I was nursing him. We'd just have phone calls - he'd say, 'Don't worry, Aunty Deb, I've come up with this idea, it's going to be great.'
"Paul would be so proud. It would be fantastic if he won."

Debbie, who was the popular magician's assistant and then wife of 28 years, revealed Paul had been impressed with James since a young age when he showed off a cheeky entrepreneurial side.

4. The Magic Word Podcast: Magic's Theater of Illusion & Museum
--------------------------------------------
Message by Scott Wells, M.I.M.C. with Gold Star

During a recent trip to Austin, the State capitol of Texas, Trixie Bond and I visited one of the newer magic venues in the State: Magic's Theater of Illusion & Museum. Open since December 2013, they have recently opened a close-up room and added Friday night shows to their usual Saturday night stage show calendar. In addition to the magic shows, the building houses Johnny Magic's (aka John Wright) personal collection of magic ephemera and devices. It is a veritable smorgasbord of visual delights with many things you won't find in other collections. This isn't nearly as large as the Museum of Magic in Marshall, Michigan, but for a private collection, it is quite satisfying.

We take a virtual trip through the theater and museum in this week's podcast. You can view a video of my trip through the museum, see some photos, listen to the podcast online, hear some trick reviews, and download the MP3 file at: http://themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwellsmagic/285-johnny-magic You can also get the podcast through iTunes, Stitcher, FeedPress and Tunein.

And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss upcoming episodes including daily updates from the F.F.F.F. convention in a couple weeks.

6. Not Good Enough - #395 - Kyle Peron

"Not Good Enough!" Not the kind of phrase one tends to want to hear. Not good enough to make the soccer team. Not good enough to be accepted into a club. Not good enough to win the contest. All convey a sense of negativity and bring about a feeling of anger or worthlessness.

Not good enough also carries over into the magical arts. Not being good enough can sometimes come about through comparing yourself to others of a higher caliber. It can derive from many sources or from many situations you find yourself in. But does this simple phrase always have to be bad? Does this phrase always have to be a negative thing?

My belief is the exact opposite. Not good enough can actually be a powerful tool aimed at empowerment. It can be used as a weapon for improvement and advancement. But how can this be when the phrase itself is bound with notions of negativity?

I think the only reason why this is a negative phrase is because you and I make it that way. Words are simply words and phrases are simply phrases. It is up to US to make something from them. We can choose to make the phrase a bad thing or change it entirely into a form of good.

Not good enough can be a form of self-advancement. We must learn to realize that there are some cases when we simply have to say to ourselves "that is not good enough." We can become so complacent with our magic that over time, we seem to think a routine is good enough even when we know it is not. We may think our customer service is fine when we know it not to be the case. We feel our skills and talent is fine the way it is when we know it simply is not good enough.

Let me share with you a perfect example of how the phrase "not good enough" can be a powerful tool to make oneself better. Say you are at a show and something does not play like it should but you never stop to address the issue and to work out the problem. You tend to think it is good enough the way it is. We all have to realize that saying it is NOT good enough is not a bad thing. it is what forces us to always strive to do better and to learn every time out.

Not good enough can be what forces us to develop drive and ambition and to take the action to always move forward with our magic. It is about learning to be self-critical with what you do in every aspect of the magical arts. Many great people in history can be said to have adapted this philosophy.

Thomas Edison is a person that comes to mind. Where would we be today if he simply gave in and allowed "not good enough" to be a negative thought process? Instead he allowed the term to empower him and push him forward in his pursuits. Edison went through close to 900 different ideas and filaments before he developed what was to be the light bulb. How many times do you think he said, "That is not good enough?"

As a magician, I take what I do very seriously. I have a passion for the magical arts and a desire to give my audiences the best that I can. I am not happy without pushing myself to do better. I am not excited enough unless I am constantly learning. This phrase empowers my magic and me to always give 100% effort every time out.

So next time you hear this phrase or hear yourself saying it, remember that it does not have to be a bad thing unless you let it be. Instead allow it to push your magic to levels you never dreamed of.

As always, I encourage you the readers to let me know your thoughts. So if you have any thoughts on my articles or suggestions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me directly at magic4u02@aol.com. I would love to hear from you.
