(Oakland, California: 8 May 1932- ) General, vascular, & oncological surgeon in Piedmont, California. Physician for the Golden State Warriors, the Raiders, & formerly the A's. Amateur magician. Has world's largest and finest collection of antique magic props, with over 6,000 items plus 30 [sic] posters, all over 50 years old. Partner in the Palace of Magic shop on Pier 39 in San Francisco & junior partner in Magic Island at Newport Beach (& formerly of its Houston branch). 1984 AMA Special Fellowship. 1989 AMA Literary Fellowship. 1 video (forthcoming 1991).

Co-authored 8 books on magic prop makers & their products, beginning with The Oriental Magic of the Bambergs (1973, 228pp). Also (with Deutsch & Johannsen), The Magic of Germany (1994), The Magic of America (1995, 103pp), & The Magic of Holland (forthcoming).
