29th
New Zealand International Magicians Convention update
IBM Ring 160 proudly announces that the 29th New Zealand
International Magicians Convention will be held In Auckland
New Zealand from the night of December 27th 2008 to January
1st 2009, 1.00am.
Registrations will open during the afternoon/evening of 27
December.

The
venue will be Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre in Mount
Wellington where we last ran a successful Convention in
2001-2002.
The committee is planning a night before show the evening
of December 27th at the official opening and the Convention
will offficially finish after a New Years banquet prizegiving
and cabaret.

President
Tony Wilson will be approaching several possible overseas
guests while he is overseas for the next three months attending
three International Conventions and these negotiations will
be released once settled.
We have been able to secure a very attractive room rate
of $NZ110.00 per night (incl GST) for single or double rooms
with registrants being able to book direct with the hotel.40
rooms only are available at this rate and reservations need
to be made well before the end of November 2008.
A recent refurbishment programme has assisted in the hotel
attaining a four star Qualmark rating.
The organising committee hopes to release convention registration
details and forms in October this year and suggests for
those out of Auckland magicians who plan to attend to enquire
into cheap air fares before this October as the opening and
closing dates and times will not change.

Help
Needed
To all registrants who attended the Palmerston North
Magicians Convention last October.
On
the night at the end of the Convention it was not possible
(due to time constraints) to award the Shield for the Club
with the highest number of points (Ray Lewis Challenge Shield)
or the cup for the registrant who was a member of IBM Ring
160 with the highest aggregate number of points (IBM Ring
160 Cup).
Subsequent
number crunching resulted in the Palmerston North Magic
Circle being awarded the Ray Lewis Challenge Shield and
Greg Britt the IBM Ring 160 member with the highest aggregate
(IBM Ring 160 Cup).
The
Shore City Magicians Club had kindly upgraded the Ray Lewis
Challenge Shield and this has now been presented and held
by the Palmerston North Magic Circle (Inc).
Unfortunately
the Cup that should be held now by Greg Britt may have been
incorrectly given to another recipient so I am asking if
all prize winners kindly check the wording on their cups
and let me know if they are in possession of the IBM Member
with the highest aggregate points cup (IBM Ring 160 Cup).
Your
assistance would be appreciated as Tony will be overseas
for some considerable period from mid June this year please
email him: tony@twmagic.co.nz
