Broken

Just
wanted to let the communality know that the man who created
trade show magic as an industry has passed
Eddie Tullock
is gone. Its a sad day for us and probably a blessing
for Eddie who has been in ill health for quite some time.
I have not heard about a ceremony.
Eddie
was an incredible man. Some called him the voice because
he could project like no other. I met him just as he was
retiring. I believe he was 80 at the time and was coming
off the road. He was a true road warrior having performed
at some 40 trade shows a year in for several decades. Best
estimate is that he performed for about 50 years.
I
would love to write more, but time does not allow tonight.
Say a prayer and hold a moment of respectful silence for
a legend gone by.
Best
wishes to all of you,
Gene
Urban

the Whaley's Who's Who in Magic
Tullock,
Eddie
(USA: fl.1930s-90s) Pro trade-show magician since 1937,
plausibly the founder of that specialty. In 1971, working
only 9 months, he was believed to have earned more money
than any other magician in the USA. 1987 AMA Performing
Fellowship. Rated among world's top 6 trade-show magicians
until retired in the early 1990s. Wrote Tullock: The Real
Truth about Trade Show Magic (1996, 64pp, with Gene Urban
& Kenton Knepper). NOTE: Surname often misspelled "Tulloch".
