Elmsley, Alex(ander)
(St. Andrews, Scotland: 2 Mar 1929- ) Took up magic in 1946. As student at Cambridge U was Secretary of the Pentacle Club and majored in physics & math. Patent agent turned computer expert. Amateur card & close-up magician, one of the top innovators in Great Britain. Major contributer to Faro mathematics. 1972 AMA Creative Fellowship.

Invented Ghost Count = Elmsley Count in 1954, Between Your Palms, Point of Departure, Diamond Cut Diamond, Color Changing Faro Shuffle, Fate's Datebook, & Mouse Magic.

Wrote Elmsley's 4 Card Trick (1967), Cardwork (1975). See Stephen Minch, The Collected Works of Alex Elmsley (Vol.1: 1991, 424pp; Vol.2: ....., 512pp). Tricks in Abra, Pentagram, Ibidem, Pallbearers, Epilogue, Chronicles, & Magic. 4 videos (1997).
